From the reliable source (The Malaysia Insider), the opening of Penang second bridge will fall on 1st March 2014 (Saturday). The official opening of 24KM bridge which is the longest bridge in South East Asia means that will ease the congestion of Penang 1st Bridge traffic 25-30%.
This is a federal government project RM4.5 billion started in Nov 2008 and expected to open to public Nov 2013 but due to some delays of the construction, it has been postponed. Penang 2nd bridge will link Batu Maung from the island to Batu Kawan in mainland. It will take around 20 minutes to cross the Penang 2nd bridge.
The Batu Kawan toll plaza is the largest toll plaza in Malaysia, the toll fees to cross the bridge yet to announce to public. With the official opening later, we expect to see more vehicles moving along the Tun Lim Chong Eu expressway to Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone.
